Besides you, there are currently over 30,000 students enrolled at our university. Together we all represent the student body. This makes us by far the largest interest group at our university and we have a voice in many decisions. Student commitment can really make a difference!
As every year, the university-wide elections 🐳 are coming up again. From December 6 to December 8, 2022, you can vote for the Student Council, the Faculty Council, the Deputy Equal Opportunity Officers as well as the Senate and the Extended Senate via the various election booths on campus or by absentee ballot. Stand up for the interests of your fellow students, gather insight 👀 into the inner workings of the university, get to know committed people and hone your social skills in open discourse.
Getting started in student participation 📣 by joining the student council is very simple and requires no special knowledge.
The Student Council (FSR) is your student representation at the faculty. It represents all students of certain courses, which are combined to a student council. The FSR is the first point of contact for problems concerning your studies and supports the first semesters with an introduction week (ESE) at the beginning of their studies to help with orientation at the university. In addition to many events such as game nights or parties, the FSR offers useful tips and services, such as collections of exams, counselling services or a material rental service.
The student council consists of up to 21 members elected by you, who usually meet weekly. The members of the FSR send students to the student council (StuRa) and propose the student representatives for various committees of the faculty.
The Faculty Council is the highest and most influential body of a faculty. Here, the main organizational, financial and personnel issues are discussed and decided in monthly meetings. Among other things, it confirms the study documents that have been prepared by the Study Commission (StuKo) and organizes the appointments for professorships.
The chair of the faculty council is held by the dean. In addition to professors and representatives of the academic staff, the group of scientific support staff, and an equal opportunity commissioner, you are also represented by students, voted for by you.
In the department council, similar to the faculty council, all member groups from the department meet. This means that, in addition to student representatives, this body also includes professors, research assistants and technical and administrative staff. In addition, there is also the equal opportunity commissioner of the department.
Depending on the order of the department, the department council has different tasks. For example, it can decide on departmental study programs or decide on the further development of the department.
The Senate is the highest academic body of the TU Dresden. It makes fundamental decisions for the entire university, i.e. it determines its strategy and orientation. The introduction and dissolution of study programs is also decided here as a last resort. The Senate also has an important function as a platform for the exchange of information between the various departments, faculties, institutions and status groups.
These status groups make up, in varying proportions, a total of 21 members of the Senate with voting rights. As in all committees, the 11 professors entitled to vote have a majority of one vote as prescribed by law, the students and research assistants each have 4 representatives, the other employees 2.
In addition, other persons without voting rights belong to the senate. These include, for example, the rector, prorector, chancellor and the deans of the faculties as well as the central equal opportunity commissioner.
In addition to the Senate, there is also the expanded Senate. However, this body meets less frequently. It is responsible for the election and de-election of the Rector as well as for decisions about changes in the basic rules of the TU Dresden.
The rector is the chairman. Just like the prorector, the chancellor, the dean and the university's equal opportunity commissioner, is a member of the committee in an advisory capacity only. The 21 voting members of the Senate and the same number of representatives from the status groups belong to the expanded Senate. You elect the four student representatives and their substitutes.
There are equal opportunity officers at various levels of the university. The representatives of the faculties and departments are directly elected. Any member of the faculty or department can become the equal opportunity commissioner. This means that students can also run for office.
The equal opportunity commissioners are qua office members of the faculty or department councils and are also represented on the appointment committees. In addition, the equal opportunity commissioners are contact persons at their level for problems and questions in the area of equal opportunity work and organize and support projects and events as far as possible.

Hey! Mit meiner Kandidatur möchte ich Teil des Teams des iFSR werden. Als Erstie habe ich vielleicht noch eine andere Sichtweise auf die Uni und Ideen, auf die Alteingesessene vielleicht nicht sofort kommen würden. Vor allem aber möchte ich die Infrastruktur des iFSR mit aufbauen und verwalten, um auch in Zukunft eine ordentliche Online-Präsenz des iFSR zu gewährleisten und verschiedenste Services für Studierende anzubieten.
Ahoi, manche von euch kennen mich vielleicht schon von der diesjährigen ESE, bei der ihr hoffentlich das Beenden von vim und weitere wichtige Themen der Informatik gelernt habt. Hallo, ich bin Fabian und in diesem Semester ganz neu an der TU angekommen. Nach der coolen ESE habe ich mich schnell dazu entschlossen meinen Master ruhiger anzugehen und mich stattdessen mehr im Fachschaftsrat zu engagieren. Ich würde dabei vor allem gerne bei der Organisation von Veranstaltungen der Fakultät mitwirken und mich für eine (für Studierende) gute Lehre einsetzen.
Hi ich bin Jakob und habe jetzt schon zwei Jahre lang fleißig im FSR mit gearbeitet. Auch im nächsten Jahr will ich weiterhin z.B. in der Studienkommission tätig sein, muss dafür aber nicht gewählt sein, da ich schon alle Benefits eines gewählten Mitglieds bekommen habe. Ich würde auch als assoziiertes Mitglied gerne mit machen und neuen Leuten den Vortritt lassen.
HEY :) ich bin Wolfgang, man kennt mich auch unter dem Namen Wolfi oder Wulfgang und ich engagiere mich gern für Studis, also euch! Ich habe schon bei mehreren Veranstaltungen mitgeholfen (ESE, Linux Install Party) und die ersten Kontakte zu den jetzigen FSRlern geknüpft. Auch möchte ich mich für mehr Snacks für Studis einsetzen ;) Im Sommersemester möchte ich eine Linux install Party initiieren!
Ich habe mich im vergangenen Jahr im iFSR um die ESE gekümmert und würde meine Erfahrungen gerne bei der Planung weiterer Veranstaltungen unter Beweis stellen. Hej ho. Da ich im letzten Jahr neben der Physik die Informatik angefangen habe zu studieren, bin ich zum IFSR konvertiert. Heiho ich bin Jonas Frei, studiere aktuell Bachelor Informatik im 3. Semester. Ich war das letzte Jahr im FSR und dort für ein paar Sachen zuständig. Unter anderem für die ESEn, die Finanzen und den Profstammtisch. Gerne würde ich mein gewonnenes Wissen das nächste Jahr wieder einsetzen und auch mal neue Formate ausprobieren. Des Weiteren bin ich aktiv im StuRa, wodurch ich viel an der Uni kenne und auch zu anderen FSRen gute Kontakte pflege.

Salut. Ich hatte schon immer Freude daran, Dinge zu organisieren und würde das gern auch zukünftig beim FSR tun. Ich möchte mich gern engagieren, um studentische Interessen voranzubringen und das Leben an der Informatikfakultät zu verbessern. Im Senat möchte ich mich für mehr Diversität, eine angemessene, studifreundliche Digitalisierung und eine zugängliche, moderne Lehre einsetzen.
Nachdem ich mich im letzten Jahr im Fachschaftsrat Informatik engagiert habe, möchte ich Studierenden-freundlichere Regelungen nun auch unweit voranbringen.
