University Elections 2025
Currently, over 30,000 students are enrolled at our university. Together, we form the student body. We are by far the largest interest group at our university and have a say in many decisions. Student engagement can really make a difference!
What’s Happening?
As every year, the university-wide elections 🐳 are coming up again. From December 9th to 11th 2025, you can vote for the Student Council, Faculty Council, Senate, and Extended Senate at various polling stations on campus or by postal vote. Stand up for the interests of your fellow students, gain insights 👀 into the inner workings of the university, meet committed people, and develop your social skills in open discourse.
Getting involved in student participation 📣 through working in the Student Council is easy and requires no special knowledge. Besides advisory services and work on improving your degree program, the Student Council organizes the first semester introduction (ESE) as well as workshops, game nights, parties, and much more. All this is only possible if enough students get enthusiastic about participating. 👐

What is being elected?
01 Student Council (FSR)
The Student Council (FSR) is your student representative body at the faculty. It represents all students of certain degree programs grouped into a student body (Fachschaft). The FSR is the first point of contact for problems related to your studies and supports freshmen during the first semester introduction (ESE) at the beginning of their studies to help them get oriented at the university. Besides many events such as game nights or parties, the FSR often offers useful tips and services, such as exam collections, counseling services, or lending of materials.
Up to 25 members elected by you belong to the Student Council, who usually meet weekly. The members of the FSR send representatives to the Student Parliament (StuRa) and propose student representatives for various faculty committees.
02 Faculty Council
The Faculty Council is the highest and most guiding committee of a faculty. In monthly meetings, essential organizational, financial, and personnel matters are discussed and decided here. Among other things, study documents prepared by the Study Commission (StuKo) are approved, and appointments for professorships are organized.
The chair of the Faculty Council is the dean. Besides professors as well as representatives of academic staff, the group of scientific support staff, and a person responsible for equality issues, students elected by you also sit on the Faculty Council.
03 Department Council
In the Department Council, similar to the Faculty Council, all member groups of the department meet. In addition to student representatives, professors, scientific staff, and technical and administrative employees sit on this committee. There is also a representative for equality issues.
Depending on the department regulations, the Department Council has different tasks. For example, it can decide on department-wide degree programs or on the development of the department.
04 Senate
The Senate is the highest academic body of TU Dresden. It makes guiding and fundamental decisions for the entire university. The introduction and dissolution of degree programs are also decided here in the last instance. Furthermore, the Senate serves as a platform for information exchange between departments, faculties, institutions, and status groups.
The 21 voting members consist of various status groups: 11 professors (legally with majority), 4 students, 4 scientific staff, and 2 employees. Other persons such as the rector, pro-rectors, and deans are members of the Senate without voting rights.
05 Extended Senate
This committee meets less frequently than the Senate and is especially responsible for electing and dismissing the rector as well as for changes to the Basic Regulations of TU Dresden.
The Extended Senate includes the 21 voting members of the Senate as well as an equal number of other representatives from all status groups. Here you also elect four student representatives and their deputies.
06 Equality Officers
Equality officers are sometimes directly elected—for example, at faculty or department level. Students can also run for these positions.
They are members of central committees such as the Faculty or Department Council and participate in appointment committees. Furthermore, they advocate for equality and support corresponding projects and events.
Who is running?
Student Council (FSR)
Up to 25 candidates can be elected to the Student Council.
Malte Großmann
Major: Dipl. Informatik, 1. Semester

Jason Aaron Liong
Major: BA Angewandte Informatik, 1. Semester
Haris Qureshi
Major: MA Computational Modeling and Simulation, 6. Semester
Being member of FSR since one year, I completely believe the representation of international program should be done by a student of the program to deal with the issues related to the studies and be a voice to them. Therefore, I am running for this time as well for the elections and would be happy and honoured to represent the CMS program and student community again and make impact with exeprience.
Ramya Dinakaran
Major: MA Computational Modeling and Simulation, 3. Semester
Hi, I’m Ramya Dinakaran. I’m running for iFSR because I want to help improve communication, support students, and make our study environment more welcoming and organized. I enjoy listening, coordinating, and working with people, and I’d like to represent your concerns and contribute to practical improvements in our student community.
Philipp Denz
Major: Dipl. Informatik, 11. Semester
Hey, I’m Philipp, studying computer science since 2020. I’ve had many experiences: from the start during COVID, to seriously considering quitting, to nearly finishing my diploma. I want to use these experiences to help other students. Since the ESE 2024, I’ve worked a lot with the iFSR and now want to do so officially :D
Helene Hausmann
Major: BA Informatik, 6. Semester
Heyo, I’m Helene and I’m currently studying Bachelor Informatics. I’ve been in the FSR for 3 years and have represented you in exam boards, study commissions and also the faculty council. This year I worked a lot on getting good conditions for the compulsory transfer and the new study degrees. If you want to aid my slow fossilisation process in the FSR you can vote for me :)
Michael Wasiutinski
Major: BA Informatik, 3. Semester
Hello with O, I’m Michael and I’m in my 3. semester. I’m already organizing the game nights and want to contribute to a more vibrant faculty. Beyond that, I can’t promise anything. Election promises are like New Year’s resolutions, nobody keeps them anyway. We’ll see what happens.
Marek Šlosár
Major: BA Informatik, 3. Semester
As an ESE tutor (Club tour, Bastei hike, City tour) and active member (since May), I am already deeply engaged. The work is fun and personally enriching. Now I want to represent your interests as an elected member and take responsibility in offices for you. Since my election to the iFSR is very likely, I ask you especially for your vote for the Faculty Council.

Luca Jaekel
Major: BA Informatik, 3. Semester
I care to represent you in our student council. Until now, I’ve been part of the Linux Install Party, as an Install-Helper. Last year, I took part in the Organization. I can’t be a election worker this year since I’m already nominated as a candidate. Currently I’m working together with the student council to establish a colloquium.

Kenny Weidemann
Major: MA Computer Science, 1. Semester
Hej Hej! Im Kenny and have, by now, started studying the Computer Science Master Degree. Therefore, I would strive to represent the interests of the new Master students. I’d also work to advise students that are still learning how to navigate the Degree Program

Jannik Menzel
Major: BA Informatik, 3. Semester
I am Jannik, a third-semester Computer Science student, and last year I served as the Public Relations Representative for the iFSR. During this time, I developed the new website and managed our Instagram channel. Moving forward, I want to continue advocating for the interests of all students, tackling challenges, and actively contributing to the development of our student council.
